Some girls want princess parties, or tea parties, or fairy parties. Not my girl. She wanted a dinosaur party. So that’s what we did.
We had a beautiful fall day, perfect for all the outdoor lawn games we had planned. And this:
The main activity for the kids (besides the bounce house) was a fossil hunt. I bought a bunch of dinosaur bones on amazon, buried them in the sandbox, and let them go to town. I’m pretty sure we’ll be finding fossils for some time as we missed a couple. >
We had the food catered and it was fabulous. Leftover soup and sandwiches for the whole week! I made the cupcakes with a little help from the birthday girl. She requested chocolate with chocolate frosting, chocolate dinosaurs, and dinosaur sprinkles. So that is what we did.
For favors, I was going to make dinosaur tails. Until I a) realized ain’t nobody got time for that and b) found these ones at Target for $3 each. WINNING!
After the party was over, we took full advantage of the fact that we had the bounce house until 6pm.
Vicki still (2.5 weeks later) wants to talk about her dinosaur birthday party every night at bedtime, so I think we did our job well. Thank you to everyone that helped out (especially my in-laws, who we put to work!) and to everyone who came to celebrate Vicki’s birthday!
